The boudoir is the one room in the house that is private and personal and that means you don’t have to stick to themes when it comes to decor. If you are looking for ways to add a little jazz to your bedroom, we present a few cool ideas on how to do just that.
- New bedding – Nothing makes you feel better than slipping between silk bed sheets; order a new quilt/cover and bedding set and you will look forward to bedtime. Google can help you to find a leading Australian supplier of fine bedding products and at very affordable prices. Splurge on a king-size quilt and if the budget stretches that far, buy a new bed and that will give you the motivation to renovate the room!
- Deep pile rugs – The softness underfoot is a big plus and if you like a little luxury, a few well-placed premium wool rugs are a great idea. A weekly vacuum is all it takes and with many shades, you can find something that contrasts nicely. Most carpet and rug suppliers have products on special offer and that can save a few dollars.
- Wall art – Those large expanses of blank wall are perfect for tasteful wall art; a few prints, or a nice oil painting of a landscape would add depth and character to the room; you can cover a complete wall with a sticker. Printing tech has come a long way and you can create your own design with Adobe Photoshop and take it to the print shop for a hi-res sticker that is cut to size. There are many ways you can get creative with wall covering; reed wallpaper has amazing texture and if you are a nature lover, you can transform the room and add a few tropical plants.
- Create a starry night ceiling – Imagine going to sleep and looking up at the stars! You can order glow stars online; start by painting the ceiling a dark blue and stick a few packs of stars and planets randomly, then when the lights go out, the show begins! For less than $100, you have a stunning night sky and, in the day, you wouldn’t know they are there. You can find a how-to video on YouTube that shows you how to prepare and paint the ceiling and stick the stars; a few hours work and you can sleep under the stars.
- Add a table and armchair – There are times when you want to sit down rather than lie on the bed and creating a leisure corner is a cool addition to any bedroom. If your decor is modern or contemporary, why not invest in a military chest and a leather armchair, with a Victorian table lamp to complete the look. A small bookcase is another must-have.
We spend a lot of time in the bedroom so it should have a warm and inviting ambience, we hope the above ideas inspire you to create a special private space.
